Summary
Carlos loses his car in a street race one night, but a stranger offers him a job and the opportunity to get another car, a black and mysterious car that could be more than he expects.
Excerpt
The Celica’s engine banged and screeched. The steady rush of acceleration died, leaving Carlos coasting. Smoke poured from under the hood and through the vents into the interior, burning his eyes. He heard Cho’s Lexus scream past. Blind from the smoke, he hit the brakes and brought the car to a stop that threw him forward in his harness. Heat from the burning engine scorched his feet and shins. He smacked the harness release on his chest, untangled himself from it, found the door latch and pulled it. The smoke sent him into a coughing fit. Holding his shirt over his mouth and nose, Carlos stumbled out into the night air.
